Head over Heels

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

-Matthew 6:21

“Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

-Revelation 2:4

What a thing it is to fall in love.. but why is it that they call it “falling” in love? I personally believe it’s because what a mysterious and powerful force love really is. We fall in love because it’s impossible to step into it; genuine love cannot simply be planned, or made to happen. Genuine love is a force that is one to be reckoned with, because in order to possess it in it’s fullness you must lose pieces of yourself; lose control, lose your hard exterior. Why? Because there’s simply some things that love just can’t walk hand in hand with.

Falling in love with someone is one thing but it’s another thing when you fall in love with the One. There’s truly nothing that compares to falling in love with Jesus. He is the source of genuine love, within Him there is life. Because of His loving sacrifice on calvary’s cross, we have have a direct link to the Father. Because of Jesus we have a way to access all the lovely truths we couldn’t have ever tasted without Him. This world has concocted up a plethora of counterfeits to God’s truths.

“There’s simply some things that love just can’t walk hand in hand with.”

There’s a difference between the branches of love and the roots of love. Since his fall, satan has schemed to make the branches of love appear to be the root. However the reality that so many fall blinded to is that the branches and fruit of love, they bare no where in comparison to the root of love. The root of love is the very foundation and life source to it’s branches and sprouts.  The branches and the root are all beautiful things but try and give a branch the job of the root and you’ll find yourself in a fruit-less, life-less, position.

So he has schemed, he’s made sex look like the root of love. he’s made relationships look like the root of love. he’s made possessions look like the root of love and so on and so forth but those are merely limbs that branch from the source; the root, which is no other than Jesus. He is love. [ 1 John 4:8 ]

So to fall in love with the source of love Himself??

There’s truly nothing like it. Although falling in love with Jesus is far above any other love, there is a similarity; you fall in it the same way. There’s no way to “step in” to God’s love and really possess it’s fullness. To love Jesus is to lose yourself; lose yourself in His precepts, statutes, and teachings. To fall in love with Jesus is to lose control, to become wrecked by His lovely ways of life and His mercy and grace.

Some say they call it falling in love because you always end up getting hurt ..but it’s never like that with Jesus.

Wether your standing on the curb of indecisiveness or on the cliff of trust issues, if your falling back into the arms of Jesus, He will always catch you. As the bible says, His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. [ Isaiah 55:9 ] You can always trust Him. You can always rely on Him. He will always be there.

There’s a cold and over-meticulous religion out there, one that demands all you have with no fulfillment. However there’s also a man named Jesus, One that loves all of you but loves you too much to leave you that way. Choose today to become wrecked by His biblical truths. Choose today to fall from your cliff. Choose today to fall all in to love with the One.

I’ve found that falling in Love with Jesus has ironically made me stand taller than I ever have before.

Choose today to fall; He’s there to catch you, yesterday, today, and forever.
